Welcome to Aussie Skate at MFSC

What you need to know!

  • Volunteering

It all begins with our volunteers. At MFSC, we host 4 competitions each year. These competitions require people to help with tasks including registration desk, gate marshal, music, announcing, setup and take down to name a few. While some of these tasks sounds a little daunting - they are not and we provide information and training sessions to help you - so on the day you are not left wondering!

  • Test Sessions

As a participant of Aussie Skate, your family member might not be at the level of testing for IJS divisions, however once your family member is in Freeskate 4, the next step is Preliminary which is an IJS division. The coach will be there to help succeed in this test and future tests on their journey to Senior. Tests are generally conducted on a Friday afternoon and are hosted by ISV, however ISV assign a club to help with the music and announcing for these tests and this is where you can also assist.

  • Committee

At MFSC, we have an active committee that is run by volunteers from the skating community. The members are generally parents of skaters or adult skaters themselves. The committee oversees all the events, information sessions and grows the sport of figure skating for our local community. If you are new to the skating world, this is a great way to become engaged with the MFSC and grow your understanding of Figure Skating and share your expertise to the numerous tasks the MFSC undertakes in Melbourne and at the O’Brien Icehouse.

  • Join MFSC

If you have a family member participating at an Aussie Skate Level and you would like them to compete, they will need to be a member of a local Figure Skating Club. The MFSC is based out of the O’Brien Icehouse and has the largest membership of the clubs in Victoria in conjunction with hosting 4 competitions per year.
